SCOTT Parker confirmed Cherries will be heading to Portugal during pre-season this year.

Parker took over at Cherries in June of last year and swiftly jetted off with his squad for a training camp in Marbella.

But the 41-year-old revealed there will be a new destination for 2022, with Cherries swapping Spain for Portugal as they gear up for their return to the Premier League.

"We're going to Portugal this year," confirmed Parker.

"We're going to Portugal for nine or 10 days. There will be a couple of games in Portugal.

"Pre-season is arranged. Pre-season is sorted.

"That was all in hand. We planned that months ago. So that's not an issue."

Asked how soon after Saturday's game against Millwall the players were set to head on their holidays, Parker said: "Straightaway, they'll be off.

"I'll probably go off to Portugal. I won't go straight away, I'll spend some time here.

"I'll spend some time here and then I'll head off with the family to Portugal."

The Premier League season is due to begin on August 6.
