DOUBLE-FIGURE scores from Steve Worrall and Richard Lawson proved not enough as Pirates were beaten 53-37 at Plymouth.
The Dorset club faced a Gladiators outfit with no fewer than three guests in their ranks, with Chris Harris, Jason Edwards and Ben Morley coming in to deputise.
And Harris (10+2), Morley (9+1), Hans Andersen (11) and Ben Barker (9+1) all stepped up to earn the home side victory at the Coliseum.
Worrall (11), now operating at number three, and Lawson (10+1) led the charge for Neil Middleditch’s men with four heat wins between them.
But with Nathan Ablitt failing to score and Drew Kemp (3) having a rare off-night at reserve, Poole were left to travel home with nothing to show for their efforts.
