JAMAL Lowe admits defeat in the play-off final with Swansea City last season has given him the "fire" to go one better with Cherries this time around.

Lowe made 52 appearances for the Swans last season, including every Championship fixture, as well as the play-offs.

The Jamaica international netted 14 goals for Steve Cooper's side, but could not prevent a 2-0 defeat in the final against Brentford at Wembley Stadium, where he played the full contest.

Lowe left south Wales over the summer, completing a £1.5million switch to Cherries on transfer deadline day in August.

Having featured mainly from the bench, the forward has racked up 36 appearances for Scott Parker's side, scoring seven goals.

Asked how hungry he is to clinch promotion this season after just missing out with Swansea last year, Lowe told the Daily Echo: "It was probably one of the most devastating things that’s happened to me on a football pitch, getting so close, 90 minutes away from Premier League football and not making it.

"That’s definitely given me the fire to push on and Bournemouth as well, you can’t forget, got to the semi-finals last season and that fire as well.

"Everyone has got the same fire to do one better this year."

Cherries know victory over Nottingham Forest tomorrow would seal promotion.
