POOLE Town hotshot Tony Lee believes there is “absolutely no chance” Poole will treat their match with Wimborne Town as a dead rubber, with the Dolphins striker issuing a rallying cry ahead of the Cross Stour derby.

Dolphins visit already relegated Wimborne knowing that they have little to play for in the safety of mid-table.

Lee, who had a spell with the Magpies before departing for Poole, revealed that the Dolphins were out to do the double over their Dorset rivals.

Neither side has managed to win both derbies in a season since they have both called the Southern Premier League South home.

A Will Spetch hat-trick was the difference between the rivals in their first league meeting back in January, but Wimborne recorded their first win at New Cuthbury back in September, courtesy of the Magpies beating the Dolphins on penalties in the Southern League Cup.

When asked if Poole would find it hard to motivate themselves ahead of the tie, Lee told the Daily Echo: “No chance, absolutely no chance.

“We're going to Wimborne on Monday, and making sure we're coming back with three points.

“There's no hope in hell, that us as a group, the boys in the changing room and the supporters, want to go to Wimborne (and lose).

“How do I put it politely - they've been (rubbish) this year. They came here (to Poole) and Spetchy (Will Spetch) scored three - looked like the level was above them.”

Despite issuing a strong statement, the 25-year-old is still expecting a tough encounter.

“They’ve got nothing to play for, they’ve got no pressure, so it is going to be a tough game,” continued Lee.

“All derbies are, all games in this league are tough, but the boys in there know what means it to the club and stuff like that, to make sure we come away with the bragging rights.

“Obviously playing Saturday so it’ll be heavy on the legs but we're going to go there and have a good go for the last away day of the season.”

Whilst Poole and Wimborne may have nothing to play for apart from bragging rights, Lee is still chasing the league’s golden boot.

The former Eastleigh man enters the final two games of the season two goals behind Moses Emmanuel, who grabbed seven goals against Wimborne.

When asked if he was aiming to boost his tally, Lee responded: “I could do with a few! Moses Emmanuel has played them twice, I haven't played them.

“I've got a point to prove, Fletch (Will Fletcher) has got a point to prove not getting a chance there, Holmesy (Luke Holmes), I think everyone wants to go there and do really well.

“It's one of them - if it's better to square it for somebody to score it's going to be hard for me, but I'd rather come away with the three points just to keep them quiet.”
