FOOTBALLERS from a Wimborne school will take their place among the best in the country at the Premier League Primary Stars finals in May.

Girls from year six at Allenbourn Middle School, coached by Chris Hickson, represented Cherries and came through the local heat at AFC Stoneham in Hampshire.

Their day began with defeat to a side representing Brighton, before bouncing back to win their remaining two group fixtures.

Allenbourn then defeated their Portsmouth and Woking counterparts, before defeating Southampton's representatives 1-0 in the final.

The girls now move on to the national finals on May 17, competing against regional winners from across the country on the Vicarage Road pitch of Premier League outfit Watford.

Cindy Pritchard, headteacher of Allenbourn, said: “The team have done amazingly well and Mr Hickson, myself and the entire school are incredibly proud of their achievements.

"We can’t wait until May to see them in action at the national finals.”
