PROMOTER Danny Ford insisted it would be “absolutely fantastic” to see Pirates’ class of 2022 unite for the first time this week.

The club are set to hold their annual press and practice day at Wimborne Road on Friday (from 1pm).

After being interviewed by club media and taking fans' questions, the defending SGB Championship winners will then take to the track to get their first laps in at Wimborne Road this year.

And with all seven of the side set to be in attendance, Ford is looking forward to the club’s season curtain-raiser.

Speaking ahead of press and practice, he told the Daily Echo: “It’s going to be absolutely fantastic. I can’t wait to get our 2022 season underway.

“It’s been a shorter break than what we are used to but these things always seem to sneak up on you last minute.

“But it’s all coming together and I am looking forward to seeing the boys out on track for the first time.”

Pirates’ first meeting of 2022 comes next Wednesday, when they host a farewell to legend Bjarne Pedersen.
