POOLE Town have announced that midfielder Corby Moore has extended his spell at the Black Gold stadium until the end of the 2022/23 season.

A former Southampton academy player, Moore initially joined Poole Town on loan from Forest Green Rovers in 2015.

After being released by the Gloucestershire side, he spent time in Essex with Chelmsford and Bishop's Stortford, eventually linking back up with the Dolphins in the maiden National South campaign in 2016/17.

He recently reached 200 appearances in a Poole shirt, grabbing 13 goals from his central midfield role.

The Daily Echo understands that Moore turned down a deal with National South Hungerford Town in order to remain with the Dolphins.

Speaking about the new deal, Moore told the Daily Echo: “I'm definitely delighted to stay.

“Tommy and Mickey have been a big part of me also progressing here, so it's a no brainer, really.

“Obviously the boys are great here as well, and we've got a good foundation.

“I hope next year we can push on for the playoffs and where we should be, really. So definitely looking forward to next year.

After leaving Saints earlier on in his career, Moore had a nomadic existence, spending time in America and across the south of England. However, since rejoining in 2016, he has found a home in Dorset.

He continued: “I've obviously been about a little bit, but when I first came here I was in and out a little bit, but I've been here about five seasons now, I think maybe nearly six.

“I definitely didn't expect (to stay here that long).

“But it’s good to get the games in and Tommy's trust in me and like I said, I’m looking forward to next season.”

Moore and Poole travel westwards this afternoon as they visit Tiverton Town in the Southern League Premier South.
