SUMMER signing Ryan Christie is “loving” the winger role he has been tasked with since joining Cherries, with the Scot stating that his role within Scott Parker’s side suits him “down to the ground.”

Christie was largely deployed in the middle of the park for Celtic, with the diminutive midfielder utilised in a variety of roles.

Sometimes the Scottish international was allowed to roam freely, while in some circumstances he pushed higher up, offering support as a second striker.

Whilst in some games for Cherries Christie has drifted centrally, he largely plays out-wide on the right under Parker.

He has quickly become Cherries’ creator-in-chief, with six assists and two goals in 25 appearances.

When asked if was liking playing out on the right-wing, the 27-year-old responded: “I've really been enjoying it out there, playing with Stace (Jack Stacey) behind me as well, and Adam Smith more at the start of the season.

“But it's a position, especially the kind of way we play the attacking football we play and a lot of possession, you get plenty of touches on the ball in creative areas which suits a player like myself down to the ground.”

After missing the victories over Blackpool and Stoke due to a quad-injury, Christie made his return to the side off the bench at Preston, replacing Jaidon Anthony in the 67th minute.

Speaking about how he tried to change the game off the bench at Deepdale, Christie stated:

“Probably against Preston, it was more so just me trying to get on the ball to affect it as much as I can.

“Once I was on, the game, it got a bit, turned a bit of mayhem towards the last ten minutes, trying to get that winner and unfortunately it didn't go our way.

“But I’ve been loving it. I felt like I'm starting to kind of really get a feel for the position now, what the manager wants with me.”
