LEWIS Cook missed this afternoon's defeat to Hull City due to injury, boss Scott Parker confirmed.

The midfielder, who started in the loss at Luton Town last weekend, was not part of the matchday squad that took on the Tigers.

Cherries were beaten 1-0 at Vitality Stadium thanks to a second-half Ryan Longman strike.

Explaining Cook's absence, Parker told the Daily Echo: "He picked up a knock yesterday and couldn’t make it today."

Cherries were dealt a further injury blow when Chris Mepham was taken off towards the end of the first half.

The centre-back, who was preferred to Gary Cahill in the starting XI, went down holding his left hamstring and was withdrawn to be replaced by the former England international.

Asked for an update on Mepham's injury, Parker said: "It looks like a hamstring. I’m not sure how serious it is.

"We still don’t know. He said it was a general tightness. I’m not sure whether he’s actually felt it, so maybe we’ve caught it a little bit early. We’ll have to see tomorrow."
