DEFENDER Leif Davis admitted Cherries were “too relaxed” after half-time as they were stunned 1-0 by Hull City at Vitality Stadium.

The Dorset club had dominated the opening period during their Championship contest against the Tigers.

But a toothless second-half display saw them sunk by Ryan Longman’s 77th-minute winner.

Asked what changed in the second half against Grant McCann’s side, Davis told the Daily Echo: “I think we just got too relaxed.

“We just came out thinking ‘oh it’s going to be the same as the first half, we are just going to run all over them’.

“But they came out with a bit more fight, wanting to win every first and second ball and we didn’t want to fight for the second balls. But that’s the game for you.”

He added: “First half we looked like the team that we are. Second half we looked like the team we are not.

“We looked like two different teams. The first half we were incredible, 15 shots first half with no chances taken. Second half only two.

“It wasn’t good enough from what we accept to play for.

“First half we should have put the game to bed. We had all the possession, shots, everything, I think they had one shot in the first half.

“We just needed to keep pushing over the line but we couldn’t get there.

“Once you are under the cosh it’s hard to keep going again. It’s hard to get going again and you have to reset.

“We did reset, to be fair. We just needed to keep going, we needed to keep pushing but we couldn’t get that.”

Defeat left Cherries eight points behind Championship leaders Fulham.

Scott Parker’s side will fall out of the automatic promotion places if Blackburn avoid defeat against Middlesbrough on Monday.
