BOSS Scott Parker admitted the way Cherries fell to defeat against Hull City left him "hurt" adding: "The whole second half is just mind-boggling."

Parker cut an emotional figure as he reflected on the 1-0 loss at Vitality Stadium, with Ryan Longman firing in the late winner for the Tigers.

Cherries dominated the first half with big chances missed by Dominic Solanke and Emiliano Marcondes in particular.

But they produced a woeful display after the break, barely troubling visiting keeper Nathan Baxter.

Reflecting on the loss, Parker said: "It’s tough, but you perform like we perform second half, then you don’t deserve anything. I can’t sit here and protect in any way or drum this up any different. First half, very, very good. It was exceptional.

"The one criticism I have of us is we don’t finish our chances. Second half, you rock out like that second half then you don’t deserve to win a football match. That’s what happened in the end."

Asked if he can explain why the second half was so poor, Parker added: "Not at the moment I can’t, no. Second half we just looked way off it, in every department. I thought we looked way off it. I’m trying to work out over the coming days, there’s trends that are happening in certain moments.

"I’ve been in here now six months and I’m obviously learning every day. I’m learning about the players and I’m learning about us as a team.

"But there’s certain things I want my team to stand for, there’s certain things that I stood for as a player, there’s certain things I stand for as a man as well and second half, that was nowhere near what I want my team to look like. It’s a wake-up call for all us, players included in that. We need to understand that, very quickly."

He continued: "This is the first time I’ve been in this situation. I sit here and I’m not hurt that we lost. You can lose football matches.

"I’m in a position where I stand and watch my team every week and understand there’s another 11 men on the pitch that of course you can lose. We’ve faced some of that this year.

"I’m hurt in the way we lost today. I’m hurt in the way we performed second half. There’s certain traits I didn’t like and it’s my job and my responsibility to act on that and get that right.

"The players will understand firmly where I’m coming from. The players, I hope, will reflect tonight and understand that there’s a certain ingredient that I want from my teams, I want from individuals. Hopefully they’ll understand that and we’ll get that."

Parker added: "The whole second half is just mind-boggling really, to be honest with you. I think we had 15 shots first half, pure dominance and then second half, just didn’t look anywhere near it.

"I can always accept bad play, I can accept missing chances, I can accept bad passes.

"I just felt the second half the game swung a little bit and at that moment, we just didn’t stand up to that really. Before you know it, their goal and you felt the swing of it. We didn’t react to that."
