CHERRIES head coach Scott Parker has admitted that Hull City’s recent takeover will make them a tougher opponent because it “brings a new enthusiasm”.

On Wednesday, it was announced Turkish businessman and TV personality Acun Ilicali had completed his takeover of Hull, bringing to an end an 11-year reign from the Allam family.

He saw his new club instantly impress on the field, as they did Cherries a favour by beating Blackburn 2-0 at the MKM Stadium.

However, they now travel to Vitality Stadium with the aim of upsetting another of the Championship’s promotion-chasers.

“Yeah big win for them, big night in general,” Parker said, assessing the Hull City threat.

“A takeover and then a very good result, a well-deserved result as well. They had to weather a little something after half-time but overall they were well worthy and played very well really.

“That result and the performance has not changed my mindset for the weekend, I see their capabilities. I know they went on a little bit of a bad run without a win in four but before that was very good, a run undefeated with some wins and draws in there.

“A tough game at the weekend coming up against a team with a win off third in the division. They will be confident.”

He continued: “I don’t know the situation regarding what the circumstances were like before, obviously the takeover like anything brings a new enthusiasm.

“I’m sure the crowd last night were the loudest they have been all season. Why’s that? New owners. Same like anything, when you sign a new player in January or in the summer it gives a new lift and buzz.

“I’ve no doubt there will be some optimism, although I don’t know the situation before so I might be talking out of turn but a new owner always brings a good atmosphere.”
