GOALSCORER Morgan Rogers was told to “express himself” by Scott Parker before making an impact at Luton Town.

Rogers came off the bench to level the contest at 2-2 for the Dorset club, during their Championship contest at Kenilworth Road.

The England under-20 international smashed home a centre from Jamal Lowe to equalise with just his second touch, after replacing Lewis Cook.

It was his first goal for Cherries in 16 appearances in all competitions.

Despite the visitors going on to lose 3-2 - thanks to Kal Naismith’s dramatic last-minute winner for the Hatters – on-loan Manchester City youngster Rogers said Parker’s men had to pick out the positives.

Asked what the head coach’s message was before he came on, Rogers told the Daily Echo: “Just to be myself and express myself.

“But at the same time, keep in the structure, keep in the shape, keep going, keep improving and keep trying to create stuff.

“That’s what I try to do. Just try to impact the game in whatever way I can.

“That is my only mindset when I come on and, hopefully, I can do more of that in the future.”

He added: “It was a difficult game. We struggled at times and we also found success at times.

“I think the way they play, we struggled to deal with at times and I think that’s why they got that two-goal advantage.

“I felt second half we definitely came out with a different energy, a different intensity and we brought it back.

“It was really unfortunate we conceded at the end but we’ve got to pick up what we can, pick out the positives and go again next weekend.”

Defeat left Cherries second in the Championship table, following Fulham’s 6-2 victory over Bristol City later in the day at the weekend.

“I felt like at 2-2 the game was in the balance and they (Luton) kind of stamped more of an authority,” added Rogers.

“I felt in the last 10 minutes, they were the ones pushing and they were the ones forcing things.

“We could have done that and I think that’s something to work on. We had a lot of energy at the start of the second half and maybe it took quite a bit out of us.

“On the whole we are disappointed. After getting back into the game, to then give it away at the end was very disappointing.”

Cherries take on Hull at Vitality Stadium on Saturday (3pm).
