HARRY Morgan’s 57th-minute goal proved not enough as Wimborne Town went down 3-1 at the hands of in-form Taunton in Southern League Premier South, writes Graham Dunn.

The Peacocks took the lead on 13 minutes through Ollie Chamberlain.

Jay Foulston's inswinging corner from the right was met by the head of Chamberlain at the near post and the hosts were ahead.

At the mid-point of the half, Wimborne came close. Jez Bedford, who was busy in central midfield, tried a snap shot from 25 yards which rippled the netting but on the wrong side of the post.

On 30 minutes Gethyn Hill, who had a really impressive first 45 minutes, went on a slaloming run through the inside-right channel.

After bamboozling three defenders he coolly slotted the ball past Gerald Benfield in the Wimborne goal for 2-0.

Taunton applied pressure at the start of the second-half and on 56 minutes they scored their third.

A long ball down the right aimed for ex-Magpies striker Toby Holmes had little threat, until it skidded under Billy Maybury's foot.

Holmes was onto it in a flash and showed his class to finish via a slight deflection.

Wimborne's response was almost immediate. Morgan's lofted pass on the left of the area was returned from the byline by Bedford – with Morgan then on hand to sweep home for 3-1.

But defeat meant James Stokoe’s side remain bottom of the table, 14 points from safety.
