SCOTT Parker is hopeful on-loan Manchester City youngster Morgan Rogers can be given a confidence boost by his first goal in Cherries colours.

Rogers came off the bench to level the contest at 2-2 for the Dorset club, during their Championship contest against Luton at Kenilworth Road.

The England under-20 international smashed home a centre from Jamal Lowe to level up the game with just his second touch, after replacing Lewis Cook.

Despite his side going on to lose 3-2 thanks to Kal Naismith’s dramatic last-minute winner – Parker is hopeful Rogers can build from his inaugural Cherries strike.

The head coach told the Daily Echo: “It’s a big goal for him and I was pleased for him.

“I think it’s fair to say this is a young boy and it’s the next step up for him, the Championship.

“It was League One last year and at times I think it’s fair to say he’s found it pretty difficult in this next step.

“He’s a young boy who is learning and I hope that does him the world of good. I hope that gives him the confidence which he probably needs at this present moment in time.

“He did very well and I was pleased for him.”

Rogers has played 16 times for Cherries in all competitions this campaign, starting just once in the Championship.

He scored six league goals on loan at Lincoln last season.
