CHERRIES striker Dominic Solanke is reportedly one of five frontmen Newcastle are interested in signing ahead of their Premier League showdown with Watford on Saturday.

Sky Sports claim 24-year-old Solanke is of interest to the Magpies, along with Burnley’s Chris Wood, Liverpool’s Divock Origi, Bayer Leverkusen forward Patrik Schik and Zenit’s Sardar Azmoun.

Solanke was signed from Liverpool by Cherries under Eddie Howe for £17.5million in January 2019, with Howe now in charge of the Tyneside club.

He played 46 games under Howe in total, finding the net on four occasions.

The England international has gone on to play 117 times for the Dorset outfit in all competitions, scoring 38 times.

Solanke has 19 goals in 26 games in all competitions under Scott Parker this campaign – already his most prolific season at senior level to date.

Sky claim Newcastle are scrambling to replace former Cherries striker Callum Wilson, who is set to be out for two months with a calf injury.

The St James’s Park side are currently 19th in the Premier League with 11 points from their opening 19 games.

They also bowed out of the FA Cup on Saturday, losing 1-0 at home to Cambridge United in the third round.
