CHERRIES have lent another youngster to local neighbours Poole Town in the Southern League Premier South.

19-year-old Jack Seddon will be the second Cherries academy player loaned to the Dolphins this season, with fellow defender Brooklyn Genesini also spending a stint at the Black Gold Stadium.

The Christchurch born centre-back, who has been with the club since the age of nine, will spend the rest of the season with Tom Killick’s charges.

Seddon will be available for selection in the Cross-Stour derby on New Year’s Day, with Poole Town hosting Wimborne Town (3pm kick-off.)

A statement on the Poole Town website read: “Tom Killick’s close relationship with AFC Bournemouth has resulted in the loan signing of 19-year-old centre back Jack Seddon until the end of the season.

“Jack was voted AFCB’s Premier League Scholar of the Year in August 2021 and is obviously very highly thought of at the Vitality Stadium.

“Welcome to the Black Gold Jack.”

A third-year scholar at Cherries, Seddon missed much of the 2020/21 season due to injury.

Poole Town have also announced the contract extension of former Cherries youngster Will Fletcher, with the striker signing an 18-month contract. The striker is currently sidelined after breaking his collarbone at work, but the club were keen to tie the talent down until the end of next season.

Chairman Chris Reeves stated: “We are delighted to confirm that our highly promising 19-year-old striker Will Fletcher currently recovering following injuries sustained in an accident at work has agreed a contract keeping him at the Club until the end of next season.

“Will has developed his centre forward play superbly during his time with us, scoring freely for the u23s and very much looking the part when he has had his chances in the senior side. Rated very highly by Tony Lee, we see Will as having a great future with us and we are just so pleased that Will shares that vision and has given his commitment to us in the way that he has.”
