TONY Lee is set to remain a Dolphin until the end of the 2022/23 season – with the star striker signing a new 18-month deal.

Lee had previously been tied to a deal that expired at the end of the season, and whilst the former Eastleigh man is currently sidelined with a snapped collarbone, the 25-year-old has been subject to multiple informal enquiries from National South sides.

Poole Town Chairman Chris Reeves stated: “Tony has been a delight to deal with insofar as his new contract is concerned. We have acted in the face of interest from a number of different clubs and felt it vital to secure Tony’s commitment to us, to reflect our ambition.

“To shake hands with him on a new deal and to get the paperwork completed has given us all a spring in our step, made all the better by Tony’s obvious own positivity about extending his time with us.”

Now in his third and most prolific spell with Dolphins, Lee has torn Southern League defences apart all season – notching 25 goals from just 21 games.

Lee is not expected to back before the end of January, meaning Poole will have to face local rivals Dorchester and Wimborne – both clubs Lee has featured for in the past – without their star man over Christmas.
