POOLE Town goalkeeper Tommy Scott is confident his team can return to form – detailing how much better winning feels after struggling for points.

Whilst Dolphins started the campaign well, they have started to slip down the table in recent months – with Scott arriving amidst Poole’s poor form after manager Tom Killick drafted in the ex-Southampton goalkeeper from Hamworthy to cover for the injured Mark Childs.

When asked if joining a side during a rough patch of form was difficult, Scott told the Daily Echo: “I wouldn’t say it is necessarily a negative for myself.

“Obviously, you want to be in a winning side – at Hamworthy, up until recently we were still unbeaten. So playing there, winning, it’s a nice feeling.

“I think it makes it that much nicer when you do win, if you’re a struggling side. You’re not winning every week, so when you do, it’s a lot better. I think as well, again it’s a challenge – especially as a goalkeeper, you’re the last line of defence.

“We’re a team at the end of the day – it’s not one individual, we’re a team, and we have to work together and try and turn our form around. I said it on my social media – I wanted to try and help turn the form around.

“Hopefully after our little knockdown Saturday, we pick ourselves up next week and go again.”

After his release from Saints this summer, Scott has acted as injury cover at both Hamworthy and Poole, but has adjusted well to the demands of the semi-professional game.

“I think you notice the difference in the physicality, in terms of the tackles, the challenges in the air, all those sorts of things," Scott continued.

“You’re given a lot less time on the ball, I’d say. You go to these big academies, you work on the press, but it’s not constant.

"I feel like at this level it is. It’s more cut-throat as well – on the pitch, not in terms of in the dressing room and stuff like that.

"Definitely, the transition was hard. In terms of goalkeeping, I went from playing with boys to men. Again, it’s the physicality of all the shots and things like that.

"I think it’s hard – it’s a challenge. Definitely a challenge, but one I’d like to say I can rise to.

"I’ve come in at Hamworthy at the start of the season as cover, I played well and come in now for Childsy [Mark Childs at Poole.] It’s great to see him come back to fitness.

"It’s something that will push me, and hopefully push [Childs] to be at his best.

"At the end of the day it is down to the gaffer to decide who he wants in, but as I say it’s a challenge – and one I like, and one I rise to."
