HAMWORTHY United closed the gap on their rivals at the top of Wessex Premier after a 4-0 victory over Alresford Town at the County Ground.
Goals from Lee Francis, Connor Cocklin, Camm Munn and Max Wilcock made it 13 wins from 18 unbeaten games for Hammers in the league this season.
Tim Sills’s side are now just three points adrift of leaders Horndean with two games in hand.
Hammers opened the scoring on 23 minutes. Eddie Hodge's low cross into the box was neatly tucked home by captain Francis.
The hosts doubled their advantage just before the break. Cocklin rose superbly to head powerfully into the top right corner of the net from Jamie Beasley’s corner.
Following the break, Munn capitalised on a weak header back to the Alresford keeper and nudged home for 3-0.
A minute later the hosts made it four. Harvey Wright's exquisite high ball over the top found substitute Max Wilcock free, but still someway from goal.
With the keeper well off his line, Wilcock's ambitious lob, his first touch of the ball, finally nestled just inside the left post to cap off the scoring.
Hammers make the trip to Baffins Milton Rovers on Saturday, looking to keep up their unbeaten record.
