CHERRIES and Millwall have both been charged by the FA following a coming together of both sets of players during last week's contest at The Den.

It has been alleged both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion in the 26th minute of the 1-1 draw.

The flashpoint occurred after Gavin Kilkenny went over in the penalty area, despite seemingly minimal or no contact from Millwall man Mason Bennett.

Kilkenny had just two minutes earlier been booked for dragging back Danny McNamara, with some Lions players appealing for a second yellow for the young Irishman after he went to ground in the box.

After players from both sides came to blows, no further punishment was handed out by referee Dean Whitestone.

But now both clubs have been hit with the charge.

The full statement from the FA reads: "Millwall FC and AFC Bournemouth have been charged with a breach of FA Rule E20.1 following their EFL Championship game on Wednesday 24 November 2021.

"It is alleged that both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion during the 26th minute and they have until Wednesday 1 December 2021 to provide respective responses."
