SCOTT Parker admitted the “silly booking” picked up by Philip Billing, which ruled him out of Cherries’ next game, was “disappointing”.

The Danish midfielder was shown yellow by referee Gavin Ward for kicking the ball away during the 3-2 Championship defeat at Derby County.

After the ball was judged to have gone out of play near the dugouts, Billing hoofed it away and gave man-in-the-middle Ward no option other than to book him.

Billing had previously picked up yellows against Barnsley, Queens Park Rangers, Preston North End and Swansea City, before his latest caution against the Rams became his fifth of the season.

He will now serve a one-game ban when Cherries visit Millwall in the league on Wednesday.

Put to him that he must have been disappointed to lose Billing for a game, the Cherries head coach said: “Disappointing, yeah.

“Phil has been a large part and a mainstay in the team, so it’s disappointing for Phil – silly booking as well really, so disappointing.”

Former Huddersfield Town man Billing has scored seven times in 18 appearances in all competitions for Cherries this season.

Defeat at Derby left Parker’s men second in the Championship table, one point behind Fulham after 18 league fixtures played.
