SPECIAL guest star Zach Cook admitted how he “didn’t want to be the weak link” in Pirates’ septet as he helped them claim the 2021 SGB Championship crown.

Cook, the younger sibling of Pirates regular Ben, was part of the Plymouth side to finish 10th in the second tier this season.

But when called upon by Poole to guest at reserve following an injury to Stefan Nielsen, Cook was pleased to play his part – scoring 13+3 across two meetings against the Tigers.

The Aussie said: “I stepped in for the final six or so meetings. I just didn’t want to be the weak link and let the team down when it really counted.

“I rode a few good meetings which has been really good. I can’t thank Jacky Holder, Chris (Holder) and Brady (Kurtz) enough in the pits.

“I probably had one of the best pit crews in the UK over the last few meetings. I can’t thank them boys enough.

“It’s a pretty good feeling.”
