BOSS Scott Parker revealed “early conversations” had been held regarding the futures of Jordan Zemura and Jaidon Anthony – but he did not want anything to “mix their thinking up”.

The duo have taken the Championship by storm this season, having previously played just a handful of senior games before the start of the campaign.

The Daily Echo understands both players’ deals expire at the end of the season but the club has an option to extend both by 12 months.

Asked for an update on the duo’s terms, Parker said: “No update currently. I don’t know where that currently is to be honest with you – in terms of that.

“I know we were initially having some early conversations.

“I’ll have to see in terms of deeper conversations and where they have gone because I am not fully up to speed with it.

“I am also conscious that I don’t want those discussions to go on too long. So, those discussions have to wait, if something can’t get sorted imminently.

“People in the places, Richard (Hughes, technical director), Neill (Blake, chief executive), they know my views. The player knows my views as well and my views are exactly that.

“If this is not a quick negotiation, then I don’t want it to be one.

“I want it to get there to the end of the season and then we can get there and discuss what these two boys, young boys are earning or trying to make a career in this game.”

Zimbabwe international Zemura has played every minute for Cherries at left-back in the league this season, having scored three goals in 13 games.

Former Arsenal man Anthony has started all but one league contest, having scored two goals and registered three assists.

“They have done incredibly well and what’s made them do incredibly well is they’ve had one focus, which is football,” said Parker.

“They have focused on literally wanting to get in this team and become part of it. That’s what’s put them in this position.

“I don’t want anything to shadow that, waiver that, mix their thinking up, blur them in anyway that, before you know it their performance dips and before you know it, they are out of the team. From there, whatever is to be.

“Everyone understands that. I have been very clear with the players. I have been very clear with Richard and the guys regarding that.”
