CHERRIES romped to a 12-game unbeaten start and back to the top of the table with an utterly dominant display that could have harboured five or six goals against Bristol City – despite only winning 2-0.

Words can’t do justice just how in control Scott Parker’s side were, with only a small resurgence from City around the hour-mark, where they could have scored one or two, showing a moment of bite from the home side.

Apart from that, Cherries saw goalline clearances and poor final balls scupper their plans to add more and more goals, with periods of play entirely in the attacking third where City didn’t touch the ball once.

Only Jamal Lowe’s close-range conversion and Jordan Zemura’s super solo run – which came from a clever quick throw to Christie and a raking ball cross-pitch, showing how switched on Parker’s side are – separated the sides.

It means City are still yet to win a home game this season, but Parker only had words for his team’s effort.

Speaking after the match, he said: “Yeah it was a superb performance, I thought we were fantastic today in every aspect of our game, I thought we were top drawer.

“Defensively, as always, set the team up as a foundation defensively and another clean sheet away from home sets up a foundation for us to perform brilliantly in any game. I’m not just talking about Travs or the back four, I’m talking about the whole team really.

“On the flip side of that, I thought we saw an aggressive, dynamic team with huge quality in certain moments.

“If I’m being critical, it’s fair to say and not being disrespectful to Bristol (City) in any way, I thought it probably should have been more than two. But overall I’m delighted with the performance.”
