ENGLAND’S World Cup Qualifier could have been disrupted after a fire broke out in Andorra’s stadium.

The fire at the Estadi Nacional burst into life while Sky Sports were doing a live report but it was quickly brought under control.

Journalist Rob Dorsett was doing a piece to camera discussing Gareth Southgate’s team selection for tomorrow night’s match before realising the fire was growing across the pitch to him.

Within moments the gantry was taken hold of by the flames as black smoke poured out of the small building on the side of the pitch.

The Estadi Nacional features a synthetic pitch and the fire, which engulfed the gantry and lots of camera equipment, was right next to the surface – potentially causing significant damage.

The stadium is also in a residential area, with a block of flats built right up against the area of the ground which was engulfed in flames.

Sky Sports have confirmed that the game is still set to go ahead, with Andorra players training on the surface several hours after the incident.
