CHERRIES head coach Scott Parker has been awarded with the Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month award for September.

His side picked up 13 points from five unbeaten matches during the month in order for him to claim the award, and now sit top of the table during the international break.

The only game Cherries failed to win was the 0-0 draw at newly promoted Peterborough, with victories against Barnsley, QPR, Cardiff City and Luton Town all coming in September.

Also nominated were Derby County's Wayne Rooney, Blackpool’s Neil Critchley, and Sheffield United’s Slavisa Jokanovic.

Following the announcement, Sky Sports' EFL pundit Don Goodman said: "The Cherries are the consistent class of the Championship at the moment and, under Scott Parker's guidance, there's no massive bumps in the road in sight.

"Bournemouth have seemingly taken on Parker's attributes from his playing days, adding a gritty unwillingness to lose, no matter the opposition or the challenge they pose, allied with the poise and guile he displayed at crucial moments."

Parker will hope that his side can claim more results along the way to the end of the season, as they target promotion to the Premier League after relegation two seasons ago.

Blackburn Rovers forward Ben Brereton Diaz claimed the player’s award, after hitting six goals and an assist during the month’s games – including a hattrick against Cardiff.
