POOLE Pirates are hopeful Benjamin Basso will be passed fit to feature for Poole Pirates in tomorrow's Knockout Cup semi-final against Leicester Lions.

Pirates will be looking to overturn a 49-41 deficit from the first leg when they welcome the Lions to Wimborne Road tomorrow (7.30pm).

And they hope to be boosted by the news fearless Dane Basso will be available.

Basso has been in the wars in recent weeks. After a crash saw him nursing a tyre burn to his leg, Basso then suffered injuries on successive Wednesdays, damaging his ribs in Denmark whilst riding for Fjelsted, before crashing out and suffering a similar problem during last week's win over Redcar Bears back at Wimborne Road.

But after a few days of rest, he looks ready to go again.

Pirates are still without Stefan Nielsen, who suffered multiple injuries included a punctured lung after crashing at Birmingham on September 1.

Zach Cook, brother of Poole's number four Ben, will guest at reserve in Nielsen's absence tomorrow.

Leicester will run with just six, operating rider replacement for the ill Dan Thompson.

Pirates: Rory Schlein, Benjamin Basso, Steve Worrall, Ben Cook, Danny King, Zach Cook (guest), Danyon Hume.
