BOSS Tom Killick believes Poole Town’s trip to Salisbury tomorrow serves as an “ideal opportunity” for his charges to respond after an abject 3-0 defeat at the weekend.

In the absence of Killick, Poole fell to a heavy loss away to bottom of the league Kings Langley on Saturday, meaning Dolphins are without a win in their past five games.

Killick, who was once a player and assistant manager at Salisbury, told the Daily Echo he was looking forward to the clash with Steve Claridge’s men.

“Salisbury away is always a game you look forward to,” began Killick. “It’s one of the best grounds in the league, you normally have a good crowd, so it’s a good atmosphere.

“They’re a very good team, they’re one of the strongest teams in the division without a doubt. They come into it off the back of a really good win against Swindon Supermarine.

“So, when you look at the fixtures at the start of the season, Salisbury away is always one you would be looking forward to.

“It’s not ideal coming into it on the back of a performance like we’ve had, but someone people might say it is the ideal opportunity to try and right some wrongs.”

Captain Jamie Whisken, who has been struggling with a groin injury, was rested at the weekend but could be in line for a return, whilst the injured Sean Wright and new father Luke Burbidge could return to contention.

Top scorer Tony Lee was also absent at the weekend due to illness, with the striker set to return to the starting XI against the Wiltshire side.

Corby Moore’s suspension does not kick in until the weekend, but Killick revealed that the club were deliberating over appealing the midfielder’s straight red card for an apparent stamp.

“We looked at the footage, and unfortunately, the footage is not as conclusive as we would have liked, from the point of view of showing the incident clearly,” continued Killick.

“That’s really our difficulty – it looks fairly innocuous on the clip. We’re going to have to look at it again to make the final decision.”
