RYAN Christie explained how conversations with Scott Parker played a big role in his decision to join Cherries, describing the boss as "energetic" and "driven".

Christie turned down Premier League interest to join Cherries this summer, signing on deadline day from Scottish giants Celtic for a fee of around £2.5million.

The 26-year-old has slotted straight into the team, making three appearances already, all having ended in victory for his new side.

Christie played 80 minutes of Saturday's hard-fought 1-0 triumph at Cardiff City.

Discussing his move to the south coast, the Scotland international told the Daily Echo: "In terms of speaking to the manager and when I spoke to him, I got the feeling of how energetic and driven he was to try and get promotion for Bournemouth.

"Obviously coming from him, he’s someone who knows how to do it.

"He’s got the experience of that (at Fulham) and that’ll help us massively over the course of the season.

"Obviously it’s not just me, I’m sure it’s everyone in the changing room, a dream to get promoted and to play in the Premier League. That’s what everyone is desperate to do."
