HEAD Coach Scott Parker hailed match-winner Philip Billing but added that it is what’s going “unnoticed” that impressed him so much.

The great Dane added his third goal of the Championship season with a strike from the edge of the area ten minutes into the second half at Cardiff, after gathering from Adam Smith.

It proved to be the only breakthrough in a bitterly contested occasion and saw Cherries take all three points back to the south coast, but Parker has said that Billing’s attacking quality isn’t a surprise.

He pinpointed the 25-year-old’s work off the ball and ever-growing maturity as instrumental in capturing the win and leading Cherries to the top of the table.

Speaking after the match, Parker said: “He has, but what pleased me more is what’s going unnoticed for everyone at the moment is another side to his game.

“He’s maturing, talented as he is but he is maturing into the game, someone who I see early on floating in and out of the games at times, going missing, he’s been absolutely superb in terms of that.

“We know what we will get in terms of attacking, his finish today, technically we know that he is capable of that, but his all round game at this present moment in time is ticking a lot of boxes.”

As well as taking four shots going forward – including a couple of decent opportunities where he could have even added another – Billing won three aerial duels for his side, a battle that was increasingly important given the playstyle the hosts were adopting.

To add, the midfielder was only dispossessed on two occasions in a dominating midfield display.

Parker added: “Defensively, his work rate, blocking, understanding as well as being dynamic, so I’m very pleased he’s got the winner for us.”
