CHERRIES have been linked with a move for Celtic star Ryan Christie.

Sky Sports have tonight reported the Dorset club and Premier League Burnley are in talks with the 26-year-old, who is set to become a free agent on January 1.

Christie first joined Glasgow Giants Celtic on September 1, 2015.

He has gone on to make 151 appearances in all competitions for the Parkhead side, scoring 41 goals and registering 44 assists.

The attacking midfielder, who can also play out wide, has spent time on loan with boyhood club Inverness Caledonian Thistle and Aberdeen.

Christie has made 20 appearances at senior level for Scotland and was part of Steve Clarke’s squad for Euro 2022.

Reports elsewhere suggest Cherries are ahead of Burnley in the race for Christie - while Sky claim a deal was yet not close on Monday evening.

Cherries head coach Scott Parker insisted the Dorset club would still be active in the market ahead of the window closing at 11pm on Tuesday.

Asked on Saturday if he hoped for any more possible arrivals, boss Parker told BBC Radio Solent: "We’re working hard. We’re trying to get some faces in.

"Hopefully we can do that. But at the same time, you never know in this current climate.

"So, I’m looking forward to it shutting with maybe a couple in, we’ll see."

The likes of Swansea’s Jamal Lowe and Wolves’s Morgan Gibbs-White have also been linked with moves to Vitality Stadium.
