HEAD coach Scott Parker admitted it was a “big ask” for loan recruit Morgan Rogers to step straight into Cherries’ starting XI at Norwich on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old had only trained with his new team-mates once ahead of his first appearance for the Dorset club, having finalised a loan move from Manchester City on Monday.

Former West Brom youngster Rogers played 82 minutes of the 6-0 defeat in East Anglia, before being replaced by Christian Saydee at Carrow Road.

Assessing the England youth international’s inaugural appearance for Cherries, Parker told the Daily Echo: “Morgan Rogers has had one full day training with us. He literally signed with three minutes to go on Monday.

“He showed bits, I thought. It was a big ask for the boy.

“I remember only asking that of Kyle Edwards only four weeks ago – he had one training session and I put him in against Chelsea.

“It’s the same for this boy. I put him in a situation on Tuesday which was a tough one, to be honest with you. He’s not been around the team, not been around the players.

“He’s had to come into a team against a very good side.

“I thought he showed bits. Plenty there to improve on, plenty of things I didn’t like as much as I did like, so again, we will work with that.”
