BEN Cook is set to return to action for Poole Pirates tomorrow, after recovering from a leg injury.

The Aussie has not featured for Poole since crashing out whilst guesting for Redcar Bears last month.

But after missing six meetings, Cook is back in at reserve for Pirates as speedway returns to Wimborne Road with the visit of Scunthorpe Scorpions tomorrow (7.30pm).

However, Poole will still be without new signing Benjamin Basso.

After recovering from coronavirus, Basso is unavailable to ride tomorrow due to a prior commitment for his Danish side Fjelsted.

Alfie Bowtell is again set to step in as a guest at two, as Poole ride at home for the first time in two weeks, after last Wednesday's meeting was Redcar Bears was postponed due to members of Poole Stadium staff contracting coronavirus.

Scunthorpe will be led by newly-crowned British champion Adam Ellis, while they also include Josh MacDonald in their line-up, after he dropped out of Poole's septet without turning a wheel due to the new 'rising star' team rules.

"It is frustrating that we have to wait a little longer to see Benjamin in our colours, but of course with us signing him late on he already had commitments for his club Fjelsted," promoter Danny Ford explained via the club's website.

"Thankfully though this will be a rare clash and he will join us on Friday (for Redcar away).

"But I am glad to have Ben Cook back in the fray. He is very keen to get going again after his lay-off and after the problems of last week I think we are all desperate to get going again and hopefully we will be able to attract a good summer's evening crowd to provide plenty of support to lift the Pirates."

Pirates: Rory Schlein, Alfie Bowtell (guest), Steve Worrall, Stefan Nielsen, Danny King, Ben Cook, Danyon Hume.

Scunthorpe: Adam Ellis, Simon Lambert, Theo Pijper, Tero Aarnio, rider replacement for Thomas Jorgensen, Jordan Palin, Josh MacDonald.
