BOSS Scott Parker hailed as “brilliant” Chris Mepham’s performance at right-back during Cherries’ 2-1 victory over Nottingham Forest.

The Wales international, a centre-half by trade, made the transition to full-back after Adam Smith was ruled out by illness and Jack Stacey was still not deemed fit to feature.

Mepham picked up an early booking during the opening period but kept his cool to complete 90 minutes in the makeshift position.

He also put in a huge block to deny former Cherries striker Lewis Grabban in the later stages at the City Ground.

Asked about having to move the 23-year-old out of position, Parker told the Daily Echo: “I asked him to go right-back, which he had to do.

“He was brilliant in that. He got a booking early and now it’s about being professional, cool head, don’t put yourself exposed in those situations.

“He did brilliant.”
