PIRATES skipper Danny King described as “a very important weekend” his side’s tour of the north, as they aim to extend their unbeaten run.

Wednesday’s 48-42 home victory over Edinburgh Monarchs made it nine meetings unbeaten in all competitions for the Wimborne Road outfit.

But King and his cohorts are now set to hit the road with three meetings in as many days.

Poole visit Edinburgh on Friday night before an away meeting at Berwick on Saturday. They then head to Newcastle on Sunday in a jam-packed weekend schedule.

King said: “It’s a very important weekend for us going up and important we get points.

“It’s not going to be easy, certainly at Edinburgh on Friday when we start – they are a solid team as we saw on Wednesday.

“They grabbed a point there at the end (on Wednesday) which was a bit disappointing on our front but it’s a busy weekend and we are looking forward to it.”

Pirates then host Redcar Bears back on home shale at Wimborne Road on Wednesday.
