BEN Pearson believes Emiliano Marcondes will prove to be a "really good signing by the club", adding: "He's always been a top player."

Marcondes became new boss Scott Parker's first addition at Cherries, arriving on a free transfer earlier this month following his release from Brentford.

The Dane made 97 appearances for the Bees, including a man-of-the-match display in May's play-off final victory over Swansea City.

And Pearson, who previously held the tag as the last player to sign for Cherries before Marcondes's arrival, having joined from Preston in January, believes it could be shrewd business.

Asked for his early impressions of Marcondes, Pearson told the Daily Echo: "He’s done really well. He’s the first signing and we’ll probably make a few more hopefully.

"But I’ve played against Emi a couple of times last season and the year before.

"He’s always been a top player.

"I think it’s a really good signing by the club.

"You can see in training his quality and I think we’ve all seen in the play-off game what he can do.

"He obviously got promoted, which is great for him, so hopefully he can do the business for us as well."
