CHERRIES have agreed a season-long loan deal with Newcastle for goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, the Daily Echo understands.
The 24-year-old stopper has agreed terms with the Dorset outfit and had been set to fly out to Spain to join Scott Parker’s squad training in Marbella.
But the deal has been stalled due to an injury sustained by Newcastle keeper Martin Dubravka.
The Slovakian keeper is reportedly seeing a consultant over a foot injury, which means Woodman could be needed by the Magpies for the start of their Premier League campaign.
At present, the Daily Echo understands no time-frame has been set on how long Woodman’s proposed move can wait and Cherries are set to wait and see what the diagnosis is on Dubravka’s injury.
Woodman, who came through the youth ranks at Newcastle, played 43 times while on loan at Championship Swansea last season.
Should he arrive at Cherries, he would provide competition for the likes of Asmir Begovic, Mark Travers and Will Dennis for a starting spot at Vitality Stadium.
The Daily Echo understands Travers and Dennis are the two keepers involved in Cherries’ Marbella training camp, Begovic is back in the UK with a hip-flexor injury.
