DAVID Brooks set himself the target of getting back in and amongst training with Cherries after admitting “I didn’t really see a football” during his first session back.

The attacking midfielder was filmed running on his own as he looks to get back up to speed and integrate with Scott Parker’s squad.

Brooks joined up with Cherries for their trip to Marbella, after spending some time off following his exploits with Wales at Euro 2020.

Describing his first workout in Spain with Cherries, the 24-year-old told afcbTV: “The first session wasn’t great.

“I’ve only had about a week off, so I was expecting to come back and integrate with training, with potentially a little bit of running afterwards.

“But it was not like that. I didn’t really see a football to be honest, I was just out there running back and to, to try to get fit to try to get into training.

“That’s a bit new and I am going to try to push to get fit as quickly as possible, so I don’t have to be running and watching training from the side.”

Jefferson Lerma is now also back involved at Cherries’ pre-season training camp, while Chris Mepham is set to join up with the group later this week.
