PIRATES captain Danny King is relishing the prospect of a busy schedule – as he totalled 12 points while guesting for Scunthorpe on Saturday.

The Scorpions were beaten 57-33 against Leicester at the Paul Chapman & Sons Arena, with Nick Morris (14) dropping just one point from five rides for the hosts.

And despite King being on the losing side against the Lions in the SGB Championship, he insists it was handy to feature at Leicester for when Pirates make the trip there on July 24.

He told SpeedwayGB: “It was nice to get out and it obviously gives me a bit of practice for when I am here with Poole in a few weeks.

“I made a mistake in heat 13 and rode too low but that’s the way it goes sometimes. I was obviously pleased to finish quite strong.”

Pirates have six scheduled meetings between now and the end of the month.

And King, who doubles up with Poole and Ipswich between the British Leagues, is relishing a run of consistent meetings.

He added: “It’s just fallen at the right time really.

“I feel like I’ve got off to a good start to the season and it will be nice to get a busy schedule going.”

Pirates make the trip to Plymouth Gladiators in league action on Tuesday (7pm).
