RISING star Danyon Hume is hopeful working alongside Pirates’ experienced performers will help him progress in his career.

Slotting into the British rising star position at number seven for Poole this season, the Buckinghamshire-born rider totalled 7+2 from his four rides during Pirates’ 58-32 victory over Kent.

Awarded the rider of the night award by the meeting sponsors, the total saw the 24-year-old bounce back from failing to score on his first home outing for Poole.

Speaking after the victory for Neil Middleditch’s men, Hume said: “I really enjoyed it. I’m getting into the swing of things with the track and the setups and obviously it showed.

“This was a lot better than the last time we were here, so thank you.”

He added: “Obviously we have got really experienced riders in the team, so I’m gaining from that and hopefully that will help me progress in my career.”

Pirates are next in action away at Plymouth in the SGB Championship on July 13.
