DAVID Brooks admits he is unsure where he will be playing his football next season, adding how he hopes to use Euro 2020 as a platform to "showcase my talents to everyone that's watching".

Brooks has been selected as part of a 26-man squad for Wales for this summer's event.

Rob Page's side are set to face Switzerland and Turkey in Baku, before heading to Rome to battle Italy to round off the group stage.

Brooks has endured wretched spells of injury and illness in the past couple of seasons at Cherries. The talented midfielder has been restricted to 48 appearances since the start of the 2019-20 campaign, after a blistering first season at Cherries the previous year, following his £10million arrival from Sheffield United.

The Daily Echo understands there was interest registered in Brooks last summer, but Cherries turned down the approach to keep the squad as strong as they could to try and push for promotion at the first time of asking.

The 23-year-old went on to score five goals and provide six assists in the Championship last season, as Cherries eventually lost in the play-offs to Brentford.

But as he prepares to represent Wales at the Euros, Brooks admits he does not know if he will still be at Cherries in the second tier next season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, the Warrington-born ace said: "Obviously with Bournemouth I really wanted to stay and try and help them get back to the Premier League, where they probably deserve. But obviously it wasn’t really the case in this season.

"No matter where I end up next season, if it’s Bournemouth or wherever, obviously the ambition is to go as high as possible."

Asked if he sees the European Championship as a good shop window, Brooks replied: "Yeah I think it is obviously a massive honour to go and represent your country at a major tournament like this, but there’s not that many years that you’re going to be playing week in, week out and things like that.

"So you really need to take every single opportunity that you get and I’m no different really.

"I want to go away and try and showcase my talents to everyone that’s watching."
