TEAM boss Neil Middleditch revealed how youngster Ben Cook’s bike was left “basically trashed” after a spectacular crash at Eastbourne.

Aussie Cook was making his British debut at Arlington during Pirates’ 45-44 defeat to the Eagles on Saturday.

He scored two points riding at reserve for the Wimborne Road outfit but a spectacular fall in heat 12 proved a costly moment for the 23-year-old.

Cook’s bike took off after he hit the deck on bend three. It flew over the air fence and ended up landing on the stock car track.

And Middleditch, who has Cook staying with him, admitted the Cowra-born star’s bike was not in a good way after the incident.

“Yeah, it’s trashed,” said the team manager.

“He literally only finished building it a few days before he had a little practice on Friday.

“He has been over here for a couple of weeks.

“Obviously, we had the rain-off at Plymouth and he has been building his bikes and it’s a brand new bike basically trashed apart from the wheels and the engine, I think.”
