GOALS from Steve Devlin, Eddie Hodge and Ollie Davies helped Hamworthy United triumph in the final of the Wessex League Cup.

Tim Sills’s side sealed a 3-1 victory over United Services Portsmouth on Saturday to claim the silverware at AFC Portchester.

Former Poole Town and Dorchester Town man Devlin set the ball rolling for Hammers after just three minutes.

He let fly with a vicious free-kick from the edge of the box which found the bottom corner of the net.

And Hammers doubled their advantage when Matt Neale’s cutback was perfect for the run of Hodge, who kept his cool to slot home just before the quarter of an hour mark.

Portsmouth did pull a goal back with 20 minutes left when James Franklyn’s deflected close-range strike beat keeper Shane Murphy.

But Davies ensured the trophy was off to the Country Ground when his strike came off a covering defender and fell into the net five minutes from time.
