BOSS Jonathan Woodgate stressed his desire to keep evolving as a coach and insisted: “Don’t be just satisfied for knowing what you know now.”

In a recent interview with the EFL podcast, the Cherries head coach said how reading legendary Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s book helped him take on more information as a coach.

The 41-year-old also spoke of how talking to people in and around the game about their experiences could help evolve his own journey.

Asked how much reading and learning about others could impact his own style, Woodgate told the Daily Echo: “There’s many different books you can read – it doesn’t always have to be football. It can be basketball, rugby, whatever.

“You take every single good bit out of every book and you learn.

“When I read Sir Alex Ferguson’s book, or I’ve listened to people talk, you are always learning different things from different people and I think you always have to evolve as a coach.

“Don’t be just satisfied for knowing what you know now. Always try to speak to people because you can learn little lessons you can bring into a football environment by speaking to your players.

“There’s lots of different things you can learn.”

Woodgate also mentioned he had tapped into a range of famous TV series to get an idea how other clubs and sporting figures operate.

“When you watch different TV series – there’s series on Spurs, Man City, the Sunderland ones. There’s others on American football ones, basketball ones,” Woodgate said.

“There’s a coaches’ play-book with Doc Rivers from the (Boston) Celtics, if you watch all those programmes you are going to learn from experienced coaches.

“I am one of those coaches who likes to learn, who likes to watch different things and keep on evolving.”

Cherries are looking to get back to winning ways with an away trip to struggling Wycombe on Saturday (3pm).
