RISING star Jaidon Anthony insisted it was “the best feeling in the world” to score in a final as he helped Cherries under-21s seal the Central League Cup.

Shaun Cooper’s side recorded a 2-0 triumph against Carlisle at St George's Park, to follow up on their success in 2019.

And Anthony was pleased to see his team’s hard work pay off.

He told AFCBtv: “It’s a good moment for us as a team. We’ve been working for this.

“We haven’t had too many games this season competitively but it’s a good feeling to win this game.

“We want to win everything that we are in. We are a strong side and we go into games thinking we can win them.

“We have been waiting a long time for this. We’ve had a lot of friendlies in between and stuff but it was a really good feeling.

“We came out and did well, we prepared well for this game and it came off.”

Anthony, who has burst on to the first-team scene as well as signing a new deal with Cherries this season, netted his side’s second after a pin-point ball from full-back Brooklyn Genesini.

The deflected strike came following Christian Saydee’s opener.

Speaking about his goal, former Arsenal youngster Anthony said: “It was a good ball from Brooklyn. It sort of surprised me as well.

“I thought ‘stay composed, take a touch and then try to pick a corner’. Luckily the deflection went in.”

Asked what it felt like to net, let alone in a cup final, the 21-year-old said: “You really can’t match it.

“It’s the best feeling in the world and hopefully I can continue that for the rest of the season.”
