DAN Gosling insists he would love to see Cherries join him in the Premier League next season, after clinching promotion to the top-flight with Watford over the weekend.

Gosling left Cherries in January to join the Hornets, bringing to an end a stay of more than six years on the south coast.

During his time at Cherries, Gosling scored 22 goals in 192 appearances and was part of the squad which won the Championship title in the 2014-15 campaign.

He has played 11 times for Watford since making the switch to Vicarage Road, scoring twice, including a vital winning goal against leaders Norwich City last week.

The 31-year-old then started in Saturday's 1-0 victory over Millwall, which secured Xisco Munoz's men a spot back in the top flight.

Cherries will now head into the play-offs, battling with Brentford, Swansea City and Barnsley to join Watford and Norwich in the Premier League.

And Gosling knows who he is backing.

Speaking to the Watford website, Gosling said: "I left many good friends and many good people behind at Bournemouth and I really hope they make it through the play-offs now.

"I’ll be cheering them on.

"But (Saturday) was a huge day for Watford and I couldn't be happier.

“Watford is a huge club and when I knew there was interest in me it was a no-brainer for me to try and have a new challenge."

He added: “It (Saturday) was an unreal day and it’s been an unreal three months for me personally.

“Since I signed here the goal was always to get promotion back to the Premier League, and the day has finally come. We’ve been on a great run.

"Every game is tough but to get over the line with two games to spare is brilliant.

“We’re happy, we’ll celebrate and we’re looking forward to the last two games now.”
