PIRATES charger Zane Keleher described as a “favourable return” his fourth-placed finish at the NQ Solo Masters in his homeland.

The Rockhampton-born star won the B Final at Bowen Showgrounds, having impressed during his heats.

Leicester rider Ryan Douglas emerged victorious at the event in North Queensland, with ex-Pirates skipper Josh Grajczonek in second. Zaine Kennedy was third.

Speaking about the event on his official website, Keleher said: “Speedway action returned to North Queensland over the weekend with the annual NQ Solo Masters held at Bowen Showgrounds.

“It was a favourable return to racing for me personally in NQ.

“I plugged away in the heats with 2nd, 2nd, 1st, 3rd, 1st and picked up the win in the B Final but couldn’t get it done in the A Final.

“Hats off to the club, the boys for the great night of racing and my mechanics Jake and Sonny. Solid work team.”

Keleher is set to return to ride at Wimborne Road in the Championship this season, having seen last year’s league campaign wiped out by the coronavirus pandemic.
