SUPERSTITIOUS Jonathan Woodgate says “I’ll keep to my same regime” as he looks to mastermind a third successive Cherries win tomorrow afternoon.

After back-to-back defeats, Cherries have picked up maximum points from their past two fixtures with impressive wins over Watford and Bristol City.

They will look to make that three in a row when they head to Preston North End tomorrow (3pm).

Only once before this season have Cherries racked up three Championship victories in succession, defeating Birmingham City, Reading and Nottingham Forest under former boss Jason Tindall in November.

And head coach Woodgate says he will stick to the same routines tomorrow as he has done for the past two wins.

"I am really superstitious and I’ll keep to my same regime as I do before games," Woodgate told the Daily Echo.

"There’s different things that I do. Maybe a bit crazy, some managers are like that, some managers aren’t. It’s just the way I am. We’re not all wired up the same are we?

"I know exactly what I’m going to do but I’m not going to divulge it because I’ll probably embarrass myself or embarrass you!"

Woodgate began life as a manager at Middlesbrough in 2019, after an illustrious playing career.

His 18-year spell as a professional spanned from the likes of Leeds, Newcastle and Tottenham to Spanish giants Real Madrid.

And the 41-year-old says he always been superstitious when it comes to football.

"I was like that as a player," he explained.

"As soon as I walked in the changing room, I used to get changed straightaway. I mean my strip.

"I had my shinpads on, I had my boots on, I had my shirt on, my shorts on, straightaway as I walked in.

"I wasn’t one of these who came in and you put a different t-shirt on and you don’t wear the same socks you warm up in.

"I was like straight on, kit on, ready. Read the programme, get a massage and ready to go.

"I was never one coming in from the warm-up and getting changed again, like a lot of the players do. I just get my gear on and get out there.

"It’s just routine, a routine that I was used to and I didn’t change it as long as I played."

Asked if he had seen many strange pre-match routines in dressing rooms over the years, Woodgate said: "There’s a lot of odd ones!"
