HEAD coach Jonathan Woodgate believes Junior Stanislas should be credited with Cherries' equaliser at Bristol City last night, insisting: "It's on target, so it should be his goal for me."

With Cherries trailing to a Tyreeq Bakinson header at Ashton Gate, Stanislas whipped a ball into the centre just before half-time.

The effort looked comfortable for Daniel Bentley, but the goalkeeper inexplicably fumbled the ball into his own net.

The equaliser has officially gone down as a Bentley own goal, but Woodgate feels Stanislas should take the acclaim to add to his tally of 10 for the season.

Discussing the decision to take the goal off Stanislas, Woodgate said: "Was it an own goal, Junior’s? But it was on target. It’s on target, it’s his goal isn’t it really if it’s on target?

"If the keeper pushes it in another way, if it’s save and he pushes it in, it’s on target, so it should be his goal for me."

Cherries went on to win 2-1 thanks to a late Cameron Carter-Vickers winner.
